Ostinato
7 minutes
Nuha is a composer who sees music everywhere in the world
around her; taking in the sights and sounds of everyday life as
inspiration for her new piece of music. It’s a slow morning, one
of tea, music and blue.
But her morning is interrupted when the Tone appears and
it’s an assault on her senses, overwriting her music. Nuha
attempts to dismiss it, and then confine it, but what starts out as
an annoyance, grows to fury and the Tone grows along with
it. It becomes longer and louder and Nuha is unable to hear
anything but the incessant ringing of the Tone.
It’s only after Nuha stops seeing the Tone as a problem that
she’s able to reconnect with the world and her music and find a
way for the Tone to be a part of both. Ostinato is a beautifully
animated short film that uses a composer’s passion for music to
explore the grief and the growth that can come from change.
