Barnabas Wornoff, Co-Founder, TAAFI

Barnabas Wornoff is a senior animator, animation professor and one of the co-founders TAAFI where he helps with speaker programming and other fun shtuffs. 

Wornoff is a full-time professor at Seneca College, where he coordinates the 3rd year 2D stream and mentors his students while they make incredible cartoons.

Wornoff also animates for top tier animation studios in Toronto, and has worked on Corner Gas Animated, Nature Cat, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Total Drama Island, Jimmy Two Shoes, Peg and Corn, and did storyboard cleanup on Danny Phantom. Currently he's a freelance animator for Nelvana on Sesame Street's second season of Esme and Roy.

Barnabas has his Masters in Creative Media and Education from Bournemouth University in England.

Ben McEvoy, TAAFI Chair, Friends & Enemies

Ben leads creative initiatives for agencies, brands, media companies, entrepreneurs and educators, providing brand and content strategy, as well as hands-on creative production in animation, live-action, interactive web, apps, VR/AR, game development, events and interactive public activations, on projects throughout Canada, and internationally in the US, India, Singapore and China. 

As partner / executive producer, Friends & Enemies, Ben works with his team of senior creatives and a broad network of multi-disciplinary production partners creating original and branded content experiences for brands, agencies and media clientele. 

Ben is also co-founder and chair of the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAAFI), and teaches in the Seneca Animation and Interactive Documentary programs. 

Notable clients include: Google, VICE Studios, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, CBC, Doc Channel, Teletoon, YTV, CTV, Discovery Channel, The History Channel, TVO Kids, Shaftesbury, and the National Film Board of Canada.

John Rooney, Program Director, TAAFI Consultant, Johnromedia

John Rooney has a vast history within kids television in Canada starting in the late 90’s working with YTV. Rising through the ranks, John became director of programming and was instrumental in shaping the Corus Kids & Family brands. He successfully created strategies for such brands as Bionix, Nickelodeon Canada and ABC Spark Canada.

John successfully transitioned over to TELETOON and became Director of Programming responsible for content strategy for TELETOON, TELETOON Retro and launching Cartoon Network and Adult Swim in Canada.

John has recently joined TAAFI (Toronto Animation Arts Festival International) as Program Director and is involved in the planning of TAAFI’s annual Industry Conference and programming TAAFI’s annual Animation Festival.

Currently, John is working as a consultant advising various clients on content strategy, programming, development, curation, research and trending. His clients include Epic Story Media; DHX Television; Zodiak Media; Shaftesbury; Apartment 11 and marblemedia.
