Daniel Spellbound: The Magic Behind the Scenes

Sat, Nov 12th

3:00PM - 4:00PM

Reference Library: Epic Hall

In modern day New York City, magic is real – it’s just hidden from the public. But Daniel Spellbound knows just where to find it. Making his living “tracking” hard to find magical objects, Daniel catches the attention of‌ the wrong people when ‌he discovers a ‌rare ‌artifact and suddenly the‌ ‌fate‌ ‌of‌ ‌magical world ‌hangs‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌balance.

Join Genna du Plessis and the team from Industrial Brothers for a closer look at the magic behind their new show Daniel Spellbound, a new CG animated action-adventure series created by Industrial Brothers' Chief Creative Officer, Matt Fernandes.

Genna du Plessis, Supervising Producer, Industrial Brothers

Genna du Plessis' 24-year career in animation began as a production coordinator at Nelvana. She moved into Marketing and Creative Services as a Producer for Teletoon, and later Family Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, TMN, and HBO Canada. In 2002, she joined Chuck Gammage Animation as a Producer, working with some of Canada's best and brightest hand-drawn 2D animation artists. After having her first baby, she returned to work, getting her first taste of series production at Cookie Jar, Producing Season 2 of "Busytown Mysteries" for CBC. After baby number two, Genna joined ARC Productions, where she produced several Barbie movies for Mattel and Elena of Avalor for Disney. From there, Industrial Brothers offered Genna the opportunity to produce one of their own IPs; Top Wing (S2). Working for a studio that created their own IP was a dream come true. In 2019, she became Industrial Brothers' Supervising Producer, overseeing the production of the first seasons of Dino Ranch and Kingdom Force. Most recently, Genna oversaw Daniel Spellbound's production, developing and trialing a new shot-centric production workflow for Industrial Brothers' new (awesome) USD pipeline.

in her spare time, Genna enjoys hiking, volunteering, and spending time with her friends and family.
