Finding a balance between money matters and creativity can be challenging, especially in stressful times. So, how can we be free to do what we love and keep up with life’s responsibilities? This talk presents a view of our finances through the creative lens, focused on the basics and our imagination. We will talk about money as the concept and how personal and financial clarity can be allies in our creative journey. “Reimagining your Finances” will provide insightful perspectives around money that will empower you as a creative professional.

Reimagining Your Finances

I am a Communications &amp; Art enthusiast who loves to dance and help others. I have over 15 years of experience working in diverse creative fields, and for the last 5+ years, with an emphasis on the VFX &amp; Animation industry. I launched The Money Awareness Pathway (The M.A.P.) in 2022, a money coaching and consulting service for creators. The M.A.P provides a comprehensive approach to money management, integrating principles from personal and business finance, neuroeconomics, and psychology. Having worked in film, media production, events, and the arts for over a decade, has helped me understand the unique challenges that creative professionals face when it comes to managing their finances. My expertise in diverse areas of finance within the creative economy allows me to help other creatives gain financial confidence and offer tailored solutions that address their specific needs. As a Certified Money Coach (CMC)®, my goal and focus is set on empowering creative professionals navigate financial challenges, overcome money-related obstacles, and unlock their true potential. Through one-on-one coaching sessions, workshops, and online resources, I guide my clients to develop financial awareness, create effective money strategies, and find their unique path to financial and creative success.

Raised in the serene countryside of São Paulo, Brazil,&nbsp; I now call Toronto, Canada, my home.&nbsp;My journey into the realm of animation was ignited when I first encountered Pixar's groundbreaking 3D animation short, "The Adventures of André and Wally B." This captivating experience kindled a deep love for the enchanting world of CG animation and the mesmerizing creativity that drives the film industry.&nbsp;Soon after, witnessing the behind-the-scenes process of "Ice Age," masterfully crafted by Director Carlos Saldanha, solidified my conviction that 3D animation was my destined path.&nbsp; This revelation propelled me towards specializing in 3D animation and VFX&nbsp;at the prestigious Vancouver Film School. In the years that followed, I immersed myself wholeheartedly in the realms of animation and VFX, accumulating over 8 years of hands-on experience. This journey has graced me with the honor of contributing to a diverse array of Film and TV productions, not only refining my technical prowess but also nurturing my ability to thrive within collaborative team dynamics.

Camila Francisco

The Women Behind Red Ketchup (presented by SPHERE)

Carolina Tran-Yong is a Mexican-born-being that decided her dream was to become an Editor, so there she went!&nbsp;With over 16 years of Editing experience, spanning different fields. Carolina's journey began in&nbsp;Commercial work with GREY Global Advertising Mexico, later she moved on to Reality TV then to TV Promos at Corus Entertainment before landing feet first onto the field of Animation 5 years ago (see how versatile she is? wink wink) Carolina started her Animation career&nbsp;at Brown Bag Films having opportunities to collaborate on Let's Go Luna S1, Creative Galaxy S3, Daniel's Tiger Neighborhood and Nature Cat. She then became&nbsp;the Lead Editor on Wild Kratts S6, and after that took the helm as one of the Lead Editors on Blue's Clues&nbsp;S1, S2, S3 and S4 where she built a solid communication network between Editorial and other Departments. She is currently at Sphere Animation where she was given an incredible opportunity as the Lead Editor on Red Ketchup.

Carolina Tran-Yong

Canadian Screen Award winning screenwriter and novelist Emily A. Weedon was raised in Coe Hill, Ontario and grew up on a subsistence farm with her hippie parents, at times without electricity or running water. She’s had many jobs, including screenwriter, legislative page, cherry picker, receptionist, scenic/set painter, graphic designer, art director in film and television, musician and band leader, film producer, and book cover designer. Weedon had a speaking role in The Bride of Chucky, released 3 EPs of original music, wrote and produced a Fringe Festival play, cowrote, co-produced and co-created two seasons of the multi award winning Canadian series Chateau Laurier. She can’t sew or tap dance and does not care to. She is no fan of authoritarianism, petty or great. Autokrator will be her first published novel. Red Ketchup is her broadcast screenwriting debut. She lives in Toronto with her daughter, Ginger.

Emily Weedon

Jodi Christie is a graduate from the University of Toronto and began her career at YTV and Treehouse, working to implement digital content offerings. Jodi continued on to work for Teletoon as their Business Development Manager and, later, for Corus Entertainment, ensuring broad distribution across Canada for all of their major networks. Jodi later joined Nelvana as Production Coordinator and had the opportunity to work on a 2D series for Nickelodeon, as well as a 3D short film for Treehouse and Apple TV. Most recently, Jodi worked as Production Manager at 9Story/Brown Bag Films on a 2D series for PBS and TVO Kids. Jodi brings a sincere passion for storytelling and animation.

Jodi Christie

Marianne has extensive experience in the production sector, and a lengthy record of achievement. Over a career spanning more than thirty years, she has occupied various positions as producer and executive producer, working in large teams at several 2D animation studios across Canada, like Nelvana, Mercury Filmworks and, more recently, Portfolio Entertainment, where she served as Vice President of Production.&nbsp;&nbsp;Over the course of her career, Marianne has produced and delivered series for prestigious clients including PBS, Disney, Netflix and Teletoon, to name a few.Culbert joined Sphere Animation in 2021 as Head of Production. Her daily tasks consist in overseeing all productions working closely with a team of producers.

Nicole Bauman is a Toronto-based voice actor and production manager. She has been active in the Toronto animation industry for over 7 years, working on a range of projects including Hotel Transylvania: The TV Series, Bravest Warriors, My Little Pony, Riley Rocket, Thomas &amp; Friends, and The Dog &amp; Pony Show. Her voice has been used on various commercial campaigns for clients including SickKids, Danone, Sobeys, and animated series including Red Ketchup, Bibleman, Lazoo, and many others. Prior to her roles in animation, Nicole worked as a news anchor for Global News Radio 640 Toronto and as a web editor for the former youth publication The Magazine.

Andrew Wilk dove into animation scene with a deep passion for cinematic storytelling and a love of dynamic character design. Starting out as a kid who constantly doodled crazy critters, Andrew has retained this sense of wonder and imagination throughout his life. He took the official plunge into the animation industry by joining TAAFI and enrolling in Seneca College’s Animation program in 2022. Andrew has a deep love of all things fantastical, going on epic quests with his D&amp;D group, as well as gaining inspiration from the world around him as he treks through the great outdoors.

An experienced CG Supervisor and Creative Project Lead that has been fortunate enough to work with a variety of small and large studios including Snowball Studios, Pipeline, Epic Story, Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, Disney, Lego, Ferrari and Nike.My specialty is leading teams in the animation development pipeline for TV shows and Movies from concept art and storyboarding to completed digital productions both in 2D, 3D, and mixed media.As a generalist, my skills include character design, storyboarding, VFX, 3D character development, surfacing, animation and compositing. As an artist I specialize in turning 2D concepts into 3D renders.As a Lead / Supervisor , I use my own knowledge to delegate work and direct others in completing their tasks All the while maintaining a large passionate energy in the industry which reflect well in team meetings, pitches, and presentations! Behind the scenes with the team, or in front of clients, keeping everyone on the right path and energized.I specialize in making sure everyone brings their all, that's why my students and teammates have worked on successful movies and shows such as : BatWheels, Dora The Explorer, Sonic, The Boys, Umbrella Academy, Mandalorian, Stranger Things, Star Trek, Godzilla Vs Kong, and much more. I have trained more then 1500+ Students in my career, and worked on many successful projects from concept to completion for Theme Parks, Film, Television, and Gaming.

Veronica is new to the TAAFI scene, joining us in 2022. Her lifelong love of cartoons and storytelling drew her to start her career in animation. She loves all things creative and when she’s not working in production, she is creating music, illustrations &amp; comics, singing her heart out at karaoke or playing D&amp;D.
