Canada enters the Spider-Verse!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse blew audiences away with its boundary pushing imagery and animation, blending an eclectic array of styles seamlessly with dazzling results. The sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, pushes the boundaries even further, thanks to a team of talented artists, including home-grown talent from right here in Canada! Now, TAAFI enters the Spider-Verse with JP Welsh, (Senior Character Animator) Sheldon Lisoy, (Compositing Lead), and Dani Devereux (Matte Painting Supervisor) as they trace the threads they spun into the multi-dimensional web of this groundbreaking animated blockbuster.
Dani Devereux, Matte Painting Supervisor, Sony Pictures Imageworks
Dani Devereux is a Matte Painting Supervisor at Sony Pictures Imageworks, most recently completing work on the critically acclaimed SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE.
Previously, she worked as a Matte Painting Supervisor on the Academy Award ®-winning GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO.
She also worked at Mr. X as a Lead Matte Painter, Senior Matte Painter, Concept Artist, and Background Artist on projects including: SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY, VIKINGS, THE SHAPE OF WATER, and PENNY DREADFUL.
Jane Harrison, Vice President, Pipeline Studios
Jane Harrison brings over 35 years of broadcast and production industry experience
to her role as VP for Pipeline Studios where she manages legal and business affairs
for Pipeline in Canada and its subsidiaries around the world.
Before joining Pipeline, Jane was Vice President and Associate General Counsel for
Corus Entertainment. Her responsibilities included managing the privacy issues as
Chief Privacy Officer and overseeing the legal affairs of all revenue generating
activities including sales and marketing and technology, as it related to the
company’s next generation advertising initiatives. Previously she managed legal
affairs related to rights acquisition for Corus’ programming content, across all
platforms, as well as facilitating contracts with affiliated service providers for the
content distribution group. Prior to this role, Jane worked for the Corus’ animation
studio Nelvana, where she was responsible for providing legal counsel on
production, broadcast, interactive, distribution and merchandise licensing activities.
Before joining Corus, Jane was Director of Legal and Business Affairs in the
broadcast division of Alliance Atlantis Communications (formerly Atlantis
Communications). There, she served as a senior legal advisor responsible for
corporate, regulatory, programming, production and affiliate legal matters. Prior to
that role, she served as the Director of Programming for the company’s collection of
specialty channels.
Jane is the principal of Harrison Law Firm PC, a Media, Entertainment, Intellectual
Property and Privacy Law practice. She is a member of the Canadian Bar
Association and The Law Society of Ontario. She graduated with a JD degree from
Osgoode Hall Law School and attended the Harvard Business School for the
Executive Education Program.
Jean-Philippe (JP) Welsh , Senior Character Animator, Sony Pictures Imageworks
JP Welsh is a Senior Character Animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks most recently completing work on the visually innovative SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE.
Previously, Welsh served as an animator on the award-winning feature THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES and HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3: SUMMER VACATION.
He has worked on two episodes of the Netflix anthology LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS, STRANGER THINGS SEASON 3, and on numerous video games including: NEW TALES FROM THE BORDERLANDS, BORDERLANDS 3, SEA OF THIEVES, ASSASSIN’S CREED: SYNDICATE, ASSASSIN’S CREED: ROGUE, and ASSASSIN’S CREED: UNITY.
Sheldon Lisoy, Lighting and Compositing Supervisor, Sony Pictures Imageworks
Sheldon Lisoy is a Compositing Lead at Sony Pictures Imageworks most recently working on the groundbreaking SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE.
Previously, Lisoy worked at DNEG as a Compositing Lead on the Netflix feature NIMONA. He spent eight years as a Lighting and Compositing Supervisor at Guru Studio and his credits include: THE BREADWINNER, TRUE AND THE RAINBOW KINGDOM, and PAW PATROL.
He has a degree in Visual and Creative Arts from Sheridan College and a Graduate Certificate in Computer Animation.
Karen Jackson, Chair, TAAFI
Karen Jackson is the newest Chair for TAAFI. As TAAFI's first female chair, Karen is excited to bring with her new ideas and efforts in increasing inclusion and diversity into TAAFI's events. Karen has worked tirelessly for TAAFI for many years and is proud to have the opportunity to continue building TAAFI towards further success. Karen currently works at Mainframe Studios and has over ten years experience in the Animation Industry bringing with her a strong background in managing teams, organizing events, building event and organizational pipelines and running the business.
